“Small business is an act of hope, but this government is draining that hope out of communities across British Columbia.”

Gavin Dew, Critic for Jobs, Economic Development, Innovation, and AI and MLA for Kelowna-Mission

VICTORIA, B.C.: “Premier Eby is walking into a room of job creators today to sell an economic story that British Columbians and small business owners simply are not living. This time last year he promised a business reset. One year later, that reset is nowhere to be seen.

Instead of certainty, businesses have gotten higher costs, heavier red tape, and a government that looks the other way as public safety in many downtowns deteriorates. Owners are exhausted, hiring is cautious, and confidence is fragile because the basics that make an economy work are not being protected.

Speeches do not create jobs. Investment does not flow to places where rules are unpredictable, costs keep rising, and communities feel less safe. If the Premier is serious, he should stop polishing talking points and start delivering measurable action: real regulatory relief, a plan to lower the cost of doing business, and immediate steps to restore public safety so employers and employees can operate without fear.

Small business is an act of hope, but this government is draining that hope out of communities across British Columbia. Conservatives will fight for a province where people can take a risk, hire, expand, and build something that lasts.”
