The Conservative Party of British Columbia (the “Party”) is committed to protecting the privacy of its members, supporters, donors, and other individuals who interact with us. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in compliance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

The Party is dedicated to maintaining the confidentiality and security of personal information. We adhere to the principles of fair information practices and comply with all applicable privacy legislation

2. Scope of Policy

This policy applies to all personal information collected, used, or disclosed by the Party, including information collected through our website, events, donations, membership applications, volunteer activities, and other interactions. This policy does not apply to employee personal information or impose limits on the collection, use, or disclosure of business contact information or publicly available information recognized under PIPA and any other applicable privacy legislation.

The Party is accountable and responsible for personal information under its control. The Party has designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable overseeing our compliance with this policy and PIPA.

The Party has adopted procedures to protect personal information, receive and respond to complaints and inquiries, train staff regarding privacy policies and procedures, and communicate policies and procedures to you

4. Purpose

We collect personal information for the following purposes:

• Membership administration (e.g., processing memberships, sending membership information).
• Donation processing and tax receipt issuance.
• Campaigning and political outreach (e.g., sending newsletters, event invitations, information about our platform).
• Volunteer recruitment and management.
• Communicating with supporters and responding to inquiries.
• Meeting legal and regulatory requirements.
• Improving our services and understanding our supporters.
• Measuring the effectiveness of our online advertising and showing our messages to people who have visited our website or interacted with our sign-up pages.

The above purposes are reasonably necessary in your relationship with the Party.

4A. Cookies, Pixels and Online Advertising

Our website, and the sign-up and survey pages we operate on partner platforms, use cookies and similar technologies, including the Meta Pixel provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (the company that operates Facebook and Instagram).

These technologies collect information about your visit, such as the pages you view, actions you take (for example, signing up, signing a petition or completing a donation, including the donation amount), your IP address, browser and device information, and cookie identifiers. This information is shared with Meta.

We use it to measure how well our advertising works, to understand which messages are most effective, and to show our advertising on Facebook and Instagram to people who have visited our website or similar audiences. Meta’s use of this information is governed by Meta’s own Privacy Policy.

We do not send your name, email address, phone number or payment card details to Meta through the pixel. Payment card details are handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe, and are not stored by the Party.

Some of these service providers process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

Your choices. You can limit this tracking by:

• blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings;
• adjusting your Ad Preferences and “Your activity off Meta technologies” settings in your Facebook or Instagram account;
• using the opt-out tools at youradchoices.ca.

Blocking cookies will not prevent you from using our website, signing up or donating.

5. Consent

We will obtain consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information, except where permitted or required by law. Consent can be express (e.g., verbally, in writing, or electronically) or implied (e.g., by providing information for a specific purpose). You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. To withdraw consent, please contact our Privacy Officer.

By continuing to use our website, you consent to the use of cookies and pixels described in Section 4A. You may withdraw this consent at any time using the choices described there.

6. Retention of Personal Information

We will retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. When personal information is no longer needed, we will securely destroy or anonymize it.

We strive to maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date personal information. If you believe your

information is inaccurate, please contact our Privacy Officer to update it.
