After 9 years of NDP government, British Columbians are paying more and getting less. The province is losing jobs, investment, and businesses. And British Columbians can’t keep up with rising cost of living.
Driving Economic Decline:
- Over the last two months, B.C. has lost 42,700 full-time jobs.
- Real GDP growth is forecast at 0.9%.
- At one point, there were more than 20 LNG projects proposed in BC.
- Twenty-one lumber mills have closed since 2023.
- From January 2019 to August 2026, private sector employment grew by about 3% while public sector employment by 46%, the highest in Canada.
Unaffordable NDP:
The NDP:
- Increased the lowest personal income-tax rate from 5.06% to 5.60%.
- Raised taxes more than forty times and already announced $1.3 billion in tax increases during the first few weeks of the campaign including a new ‘Doctor Tax’
- Changed the Property Tax Deferment Program so that taxes deferred from 2026 onward accrue compound interest at prime plus 2% (previously prime minus 2% with simple interest).
- BC was hit with eight separate credit-rating downgrades across all four major agencies since the start of 2023.
NDP Anti-Energy Choice:
- Over the last three years, BC Hydro imported a net $2.09 billion in electricity, mostly from the United States.
- Despite this, the NDP want to recklessly accelerate electrification with EV mandates and restricting the use of natural gas in new home and commercial heating by 2030.
- According to an Ipsos survey for the Energy Futures Institute, 61% of British Columbians support allowing builders of new homes and commercial buildings to choose electricity, natural gas or a combination of both for space and water heating.
