Dave Johnston is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Esquimalt-Colwood.
The son of two public school teachers, Dave was born in Prince Rupert, raised in Campbell River, and now calls Colwood home. For the past decade, he has served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Canadian Ranger.
After studying at Camosun College and living in Victoria for several years, Dave obtained his Red Seal as an electrician from BCIT and began working in BCs North at Mount Milligan. The Rio Tinto Alcan upgrade project then brought Dave to Kitimat, where he founded the nonprofit organization, The North Matters, to advocate for responsible resource development. For over three years, Dave worked with the Haisla Nation managing capital projects and assets.
Dave understands the issues facing both rural and urban communities in BC, and is eager to address the needs of Esquimalt-Colwood residents. An avid outdoors enthusiast, Dave enjoys hiking and camping with his three dogs: Boss, Apollo, and Loki. When not exploring the beaches and forests of the South Island, Dave can be found cooking up new recipes in his home kitchen and attending local events.
