Diane Black is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Nechako Lakes.
Diane is a 3rd generation rancher with a deep respect for the generations who have gone before. She carries forward the grit, stewardship, and community commitment that built the region.
Her vision for Nechako Lakes is a region where those working hard to build a life for their families can have safe, affordable housing, clean air and water, and stable employment that doesn’t require relocation from our communities.
As the great granddaughter of Vanderhoof’s first doctor, Diane holds firm that health care should be delivered in the north, for the north and by the north. She is committed to improving health and social services so residents can rely on timely, high-quality care close to home.
A Chartered Professional Accountant, with an MBA, Diane brings experience across the agriculture, energy, logging, transportation and advanced education sectors. In her capacity as Associate Vice President Finance for Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, she secured major funding and successfully led projects including the Trades Building, the Mobile Trades Training Trailers and the Center of Excellence in Sustainability Buildings. These projects expanded training opportunities in Merritt and across British Columbia.
Diane is a lifelong learner and sees education as a critical driver for quality of life in our region. She recognizes the dedicated work of the teachers, administrators and support staff in each of our communities that strive together to build the future generation. As a mother of 3, Diane will be a strong advocate for education and long-term wellbeing of families throughout the Nechako Lakes region.
