Gordon Zhang is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Richmond-Steveston.
Zhang is a community leader with deep roots in Richmond and across the Lower Mainland’s Chinese-Canadian community. For more than seventeen years, he has taught business at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Richmond campus, helping prepare students for careers in B.C.’s economy.
Alongside his teaching, Gordon is an entrepreneur who has co-founded several Canadian companies. When the COVID-19 pandemic exposed Canada’s dependence on imported protective equipment, he helped establish one of the country’s first domestic N95 respirator production lines, supplying certified respiratory protection to the Canadian Olympic Team at the 2021 Tokyo Games. He also built one of only three laboratories in Canada accredited to test respirators and medical masks, strengthening the country’s ability to verify the safety of equipment frontline workers rely on.
That experience gave Gordon a firsthand understanding of what it takes to build in British Columbia: the value of domestic manufacturing, the importance of secure supply chains, and the challenges businesses face in getting new ventures off the ground.
Gordon has given back to the community he calls home. Through the local Lions Club, he has raised funds for the Richmond Hospital Foundation and other local causes, and he has lent his organizing experience to community and technology events across Metro Vancouver.
Gordon will bring an educator’s perspective, an entrepreneur’s drive and a deep commitment to community service to Victoria. He will be a strong voice for Richmond families and businesses, and for an economy that makes things here at home.
