Mike Hicks is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Juan de Fuca–Malahat
Mike has called this community home for 28 years, building businesses, raising his family and serving the people of the region. A graduate of BCIT’s Hotel Management program, Mike’s career has included forestry, tourism, hospitality and the recreational fishing industry. He has managed resorts and owned and operated fishing lodges in coastal communities including Hakai Pass, Sointula, Bamfield and Port Renfrew. Mike’s commitment to his community led him into public service. For 13 years, he served as the elected Capital Regional District Director for the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area, representing East Sooke, Otter Point, Shirley, Jordan River, Port Renfrew, Malahat and Willis Point. During his time in office, Mike worked directly with residents, businesses, First Nations, community organizations and all levels of government to deliver practical results for the communities he represented.
His record includes advocating for the East Sooke Fire Hall, replacement of the Roche Cove Bridge, Highway 14 access from Gillespie Road, Sooke’s artificial turf field, the Charters River salmon hatchery, the Sooke Regional Library and the acquisition of important regional parkland. Mike also spearheaded efforts to improve cellular and emergency communications along Highway 14, helping bring seven new cellular towers to approximately 70 kilometres of the corridor.
As the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Juan de Fuca–Malahat, Mike brings decades of business experience, 13 years of elected public service and a deep understanding of the communities he seeks to represent. He is committed to listening to residents, standing up for rural and coastal communities, and working for practical solutions that make life more affordable, strengthen public safety and ensure government is accountable to the people it serves.
