About Ian Paton

Ian Paton is a lifelong resident of Delta South and a dedicated public servant, currently serving as the MLA for Delta South since 2017. He lives on his family farm in Delta with his wife, Pam.

Career

Ian has over 30 years of experience running and owning a dairy farm and farm auction business, which has provided him with extensive agricultural knowledge. He was elected as a Delta Councillor in 2010, where he chaired key committees such as the Agricultural Advisory Committee and the Dikes and Drainage Committee. As an MLA, Ian has served on the Select Standing Committees on Health and Agriculture, Fish and Food, and has been the Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Food.

Community Involvement

Ian is deeply involved in his community, having served as the past president of the East Delta Community Hall Society and as a volunteer firefighter with Hall 4. He has also contributed to various local organizations, including the Delta Hospital Foundation, REACH Child and Youth Development Society, and the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust.

In 2025, individuals cannot contribute more than $1,484.38 in a calendar year to any political party, its riding associations, and its candidates.

The tax credit is based on the total amount of all your contributions to registered BC political parties this year:

  • 75% of contributions up to $100
  • 50% of contributions between $100 and $550
  • 33% of contributions between $550 and $1150


The maximum annual tax credit is $500.
