Doug Morneau

CANDIDATE FOR Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows

Doug Morneau is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows.

Doug has lived in Maple Ridge for eight years with his wife, Heather. They have three adult children and five grandchildren. Faith, family and community service guide everything Doug does, and he and Heather train together three mornings a week in strength training and Olympic weightlifting.

Doug knows how public money gets spent, and how to ask whether it is being spent well. He served on the board of BC Assessment, the agency that sets the property values local taxes are based on, where he sat on the Finance, Policy and Planning, and Human Resources committees and advised on technology and IT initiatives.

Doug brings four decades of business experience, building and running companies and advising organizations including Bell Media, BCAA, Lafarge, On Side Restoration and the Independent Wood Processors Association of BC. Today he helps companies find out whether their technology spending delivers results, and what to fix when it does not.

Giving back has always been part of Doug’s life. In Maple Ridge, he has led the Alpha and Freedom Sessions programs at Maple Ridge Community Church and serves on the board of the local federal Conservative riding association. He has served as an elder and board member at Coquitlam Alliance Church, and as a director of Crossroads Hospice Society, a Chamber of Commerce and a Rotary Club. He has also donated his professional services to nonprofits including the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation and the BC Sheriffs.
