About Lorne Doerkson
Lorne Doerkson isn’t a guy working the room with talking points. He’s the one you’d find at the rodeo instead, doing the work quietly, locally, and without forgetting who he serves.
Lorne is a long-time Cariboo resident who has spent close to thirty years in the communities he represents. Born in New Westminster and raised in Surrey, he built a life in Williams Lake. He spent twenty years as a Black Press newspaper publisher before moving into financial planning, and was a small-business owner, Rotary president, rodeo announcer, and avid volunteer, voted Stampede volunteer of the year in 2019. He is a husband and father of two daughters.
In August 2026, when the South Cariboo faced a state of emergency, Lorne stepped up for the community while staying present and calm. He stayed close to the people living under threat, pushed the government for help when communities were at risk, and showed leadership during his neighbours’ most difficult moments.
Lorne’s background is the work of someone who knows, community by community, how a mill town, a ranch, a main street, and an organization actually hold together. He knows how to show leadership through a crisis and stand up for his home.
In September, when his colleagues asked him to lead British Columbians through the 45th General Election, he accepted, and within 48 hours, brought the party back together as one team.
Lorne is running to be Premier of the most beautiful place in the world. The caucus is with him, and British Columbians are ready for a Premier who puts them first: safer streets, an affordable life, and certainty that what they’ve built is theirs to keep. David Eby called this election to save himself. Lorne is running to be Premier to stand up for BC, for change.
