Kris McNichol is the Conservative Party of BC candidate for Ladysmith-Oceanside.
Kris McNichol has called Vancouver Island home for more than 30 years. He and his wife, Sheryl, raised their three daughters here and are now proud grandparents.
Kris is a business owner, but he’ll be the first to tell you that most of what he knows about business didn’t come from a textbook. It came from more than 25 years of building companies, employing people, meeting payroll, solving problems when things went sideways and figuring out how to get the job done.
Today, Kris has ownership interests in five businesses involved in industrial equipment and services, manufacturing, construction, building products and marina operations. He knows what it’s like to sign the front of a paycheque, not just the back of one, and he understands the pressures facing small and medium-sized businesses on Vancouver Island.
But business is only part of his story.
Kris spent years coaching softball, served as President of the Oceanside Minor Softball Association and the Sproat Lake Water Sports Association, and previously volunteered as a firefighter. Whether it was at the ballpark, around Sproat Lake or helping out in the community, Kris has always believed that if something needs doing, you pitch in.
Now he is running provincially in Ladysmith–Oceanside.
Kris wants to see more people able to find a family doctor and seniors able to get the care they need close to home. He wants communities to feel safe. He wants young families to have a realistic chance of affording a home and building a life here. He wants local businesses to be able to grow and create good jobs without being buried in unnecessary costs and red tape. And he believes taxpayers deserve to know that government is treating their money with the same care families and businesses have to treat their own.
For Kris, this isn’t about pretending government can fix everything. It’s about dealing with the problems that are right in front of us, being straight with people about what can and can’t be done, and then getting to work.
Ladysmith–Oceanside has been home to Kris and his family for decades. He wants it to remain a place where our kids can afford to stay, our seniors can get the care they need, businesses can succeed, and families can feel confident about the future.
