VICTORIA, B.C.: A U.S. operation has resulted in the indictment of 37 people involved with India-based organized crime groups. This includes several drug lords who have been terrorizing the Lower Mainland of British Columbia through extortion, drug trafficking, and murder.
The bust in B.C., conducted by a joint force of the FBI and RCMP, shows how these gangs have been operating in B.C. unimpeded.
“The NDP government has failed to keep British Columbians safe and enforce the law against violent gangs,” said Steve Kooner, Shadow Minister for Attorney General. “British Columbians who have been victimized by foreign thugs shouldn’t have to rely on the U.S. to bring these gangsters to justice. But because enforcing the law isn’t a priority for the NDP, Attorney General Niki Sharma has failed to ensure her ministry is properly funded and equipped to bring violent criminals to justice.”
“Families and businesses in Surrey and across the Lower Mainland have been begging the provincial government to take action as they face shootings and constant threats, but the NDP has ignored them,” said Bryan Tepper, Shadow Minister for Solicitor General and Emergency Response. “The B.C. NDP and federal Liberal governments have also ignored the U.S.’s warnings about gangs using our ports to flood our communities with drugs. They are unfortunately proving true the U.S.’s accusation of Canada being an international hub for smuggling drugs, which is costing us in tariffs. The NDP and Liberals must stop ignoring this growing crime crisis.”
“Under the leadership of David Eby and his NDP government, foreign gangs have been allowed to run rampant and terrorize British Columbians,” said Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Leader of the Conservative Party of B.C. “It is time for a government that cares about public safety and is serious about law and order.”
