SURREY, BC – Lorne Doerkson, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, today welcomed White Rock Mayor Megan Knight as the party’s candidate in Surrey South.
“British Columbians deserve leaders who are straight with them, who outwork everyone in the room, and who never forget who they work for,” said Doerkson. “That’s Megan. She’s the change BC deserves: honest about the money, humble about the job and relentless about getting results.”
Knight grew up as one of 14 children. That’s where she learned that nothing gets handed to you and every dollar matters. She carried those lessons into running her own small business for years, then onto White Rock City Council from 2014 to 2018. She was elected mayor in 2022.
As mayor, she’s known for working seven days a week. She meets with residents, businesses, community groups, City staff and regional partners, because she believes good decisions start with listening. That work has delivered:
- $25.9 million in federal funding to restore White Rock’s pier faster permit timelines
- Progress on the Community Hub
- Stronger partnerships with Semiahmoo First Nation, Surrey and regional agencies
“My door has always been open, and it always will be,” said Knight. “I don’t have all the answers, and I’ve never pretended to. What I do have is a work ethic and a promise to tell people the truth. Families in Surrey South are working harder than ever and falling further behind. They deserve a government that respects their money and earns their trust. That’s the change BC needs, and I’m ready to work for it.
