LANGLEY, B.C. – Lorne Doerkson, Leader of the Conservative Party of BC, committed today to remove the PST at the till on Canadian beer, wine and spirits.

This commitment, as part of a broader plan to support a key sector of the BC economy impacted by US tariffs, will remain in place for the duration of Donald Trump’s trade war. Removing the PST will lower prices for British Columbians, help protect BC’s economy, and stand up for those most affected by Trump’s trade war.

“British Columbia’s wineries, breweries and distilleries support more than 20,000 good jobs in communities across our province. We can’t let Donald Trump’s bullying shut them down,” said Doerkson. “Standing up for this industry means making it easier for British Columbians to buy local, and that’s exactly what my government will do.”

Doerkson reiterated his commitment to keeping American booze off British Columbian shelves.

This targeted relief will help British Columbian producers compete and protect the tens of thousands of jobs that depend on them. Wineries, breweries and distilleries contribute billions of dollars to our economy, supporting more than 20,000 people in 70 communities. These jobs are integral to our diversified economy and are core regional economic drivers.

This PST cut will also provide British Columbians with some much-needed relief at the till after years of the NDP’s cost-of-living crisis. When you choose BC wine, beer or spirits, you’ll be supporting local jobs and keeping more of your hard-earned money.

“Buying BC has never mattered more. My government will make it cheaper and easier for every British Columbian to choose local and stand with British Columbians whose livelihoods depend on our wineries, breweries and distilleries,” said Doerkson. “These are serious times, and they call for strong leadership. Together, we will provide lower prices for the people who buy it and more business for the people who make it. That is what backing BC looks like.”
