VANCOUVER, BC — Following the Conservative Party of BC’s election victory, Premier-elect Lorne Doerkson announced today that Kim Henderson, former Deputy Minister to the Premier, Cabinet Secretary and Head of the BC Public Service, will serve as Chair of the Government Transition Team.
Henderson will lead the transition process as the incoming Conservative government prepares to take office, bringing extensive experience in public administration, government operations and strategic policy to ensure an orderly and effective transition.
Henderson is an experienced public sector executive, having served until 2017 as the Deputy Minister to the Premier, Cabinet Secretary and Head of the British Columbia Public Service, where she was responsible for oversight of all aspects of government policy and operations and was the chief policy and strategy adviser to Cabinet.
Previously, she served as Deputy Minister of Finance and Secretary to Treasury Board and held other senior leadership roles in strategic policy and planning, including legislation and regulation, human resources, information technology and real estate. She also led a core review of government services.
After leaving the public service, Henderson worked as a consultant in major project development, oil and gas, mining, forestry and Indigenous negotiations. In 2019, she was appointed to the independent expert MacKinnon Panel to advise on Alberta’s finances and economy. She also facilitated and co-authored three public reports with the Public Policy Forum and Business Council of BC focusing on exports and economic competitiveness.
Henderson has advised Trans Mountain Corporation since 2022 and joined the organization as Interim Vice President in October 2025. She will serve as Chair of the Government Transition Team on a volunteer basis, with her unpaid leave of absence from Trans Mountain taking effect October 25, 2026.
Henderson received her Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria, where she was recognized with a Distinguished Alumni Award. She was also named one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women in 2012 by the Women’s Executive Network, receiving recognition in the Public Sector Leaders category.
“British Columbians have voted for change, and now the responsibility is ours to deliver it,” said Doerkson. “That begins with building a government that is capable, disciplined and ready to get to work. Kim Henderson has served this province at the very highest levels and understands what it takes to turn priorities into action. Her experience, judgment and leadership will be invaluable as we prepare to govern. I am incredibly grateful that she has agreed to take on this responsibility. British Columbians have placed their trust in us, and we will honour that trust by being ready to deliver from day one.”
