VANCOUVER, B.C. — Lorne Doerkson has already answered this. On October 5 he committed to protecting health care funding and keeping BC’s system universal and publicly funded. British Columbians will never need anything more than their health card. When Lorne Doerkson makes a promise to British Columbians, he keeps it.
David Eby has been Premier for nearly four years, and by his own admission he has failed British Columbians on health care. He admits people are waiting 50 weeks for surgery on his watch, and his plan to fix it is to tax the doctors who perform them. That is the NDP’s health care plan: tax your way out of a doctor shortage.
This is the same Premier who promised every British Columbian a family doctor by the end of 2025. More than one million British Columbians still don’t have one. Emergency rooms closed nearly 2,400 times in two years. Specialist waits are the longest on record. That is David Eby’s record, and he will say anything to keep voters from looking at it.
David Eby is increasingly desperate, so we fully expect him to resort to the NDP’s usual fear campaign. He is running on fear because he cannot run on his record. A Conservative Party of BC government will keep emergency rooms open, recruit the doctors and nurses this province needs, and protect the public health care British Columbians rely on.
