VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Conservative Party of BC announced today that Iain Black and Christine Day have accepted the roles of campaign co-chairs.
“Leadership comes in different forms, and at different times,” said Lorne Doerkson, Leader of the Conservative Party of BC. “That we can attract Iain and Christine to lend their time and talents to helping our team win this election speaks to both the unity we have achieved and the credibility of our candidates, our platform and our party. I want to thank them for accepting the roles of co-chairs and for their guidance, wisdom and support in the coming days.”
Christine Day is a values-based international senior executive and board director, who has built some of the most recognizable brands in the world. Her 20 years with Starbucks (culminating in being President of their Asia Pacific operations) and 6 years as CEO of Lululemon equip her with a unique perspective on the impact of the NDP’s economic decisions of the past decade.
“What an opportunity we have ahead of us to get BC back on track”, Day said. “In the coming weeks, British Columbians will see a positive, forward-looking plan for our economy that will undo a decade of damaging decisions that have driven away investment and jobs. We all know we can do better, and I am proud to back Lorne and his team.”
With a foundation in the technology industry, Iain Black has built a national reputation as a cross-industry leader of companies and as an advisor to boards and owners. In addition to his two decades of senior executive experience, including as CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, he is a former MLA and cabinet minister, and was a candidate in the recent leadership contest.
“The people of British Columbia are quickly getting to learn what I already know: Lorne Doerkson will be an outstanding Premier of British Columbia”, said Black. “This moment is perfect for him, his values, and his approach, and I am honoured to have been asked by Lorne to co-chair the campaign with Christine Day.”
