TRI-CITIES, B.C. – Today, Conservative Party of BC candidates in the Tri-Cities committed that a new Conservative government will build and deliver key new projects in the region.

“As your MLA, I will ensure a new, dedicated middle school is built on Burke Mountain,” said Ryan Peterson, Conservative Party of BC candidate for Coquitlam-Burke Mountain. “Burke Mountain families will not have to wait another 10 years to start construction on a school the community so desperately needs.”

The Conservative Party of BC committed that a Conservative government will deliver on critical local priorities:

  • New Middle School on Burke Mountain.  The community of Burke Mountain has been growing in population for two decades.  After years of delay, construction has started on a 1,000 seat combined middle/secondary school.  A Conservative Government will ensure the school is completed.  But it is not enough.  A new Government will immediately start planning for a dedicated Middle School on Burke Mountain. No longer will Burke Mountain families have to send their children to schools outside their community.
  • New MRI machine at Eagle Ridge Hospital.  A new Conservative Government will deliver a new, state-of-the-art MRI machine at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody, improving access to high quality diagnostic care to Tri-Cities residents.

“For 9 years, David Eby and the NDP have not delivered the MRI services that our residents desperately need,” said John McEwen, Conservative Party of BC candidate for Port Moody-Burquitlam.  “A new Conservative Government will deliver a new state-of-the-art MRI machine at Eagle Ridge Hospital.”

  • Since 2022, over 10 people have died each day, on average, while waiting for health care in this province.
  • Wait times from a referral to specialist treatment are now over 32 weeks, the longest recorded in British Columbia since measurement began in 1993 and almost a month longer than the national average.
  • For those requiring surgery or diagnostic care such as MRIs and CT scans, wait times have doubled under the NDP, with British Columbians waiting nearly a year for these medical procedures.
  • In 2025 alone, one in three patients waited longer than the clinical benchmark for surgery.

“For those requiring surgery or diagnostic care such as MRIs and CT scans, wait times have doubled under the NDP,” added Matt Liang, Conservative Party of BC candidate for Coquitlam-Maillardville.  “After leaving our health care system in chaos and doubling wait times for diagnostic care, David Eby cannot be trusted to deliver the health care British Columbians need.”
