VANCOUVER, B.C. — Today’s StatsCan Labour Force Survey shows that British Columbia lost 20,200 jobs in September under David Eby and the BC NDP.
The underlying numbers are shocking:
- 16,700 full-time jobs
- 13,400 youth jobs
- 22,800 left the labour force entirely
“With a near $14 billion deficit, 40 tax increases, and no plan to grow the economy, we’re seeing the results of the NDP’s reckless plan,” said Gavin Dew, Conservative candidate for Kelowna-Mission. “Unfortunately, David Eby is offering more of the same, campaigning to raise taxes and offering no vision for our struggling economy.”
“I talk to small business owners and job creators every day, and they seriously question why anyone would start a business in BC. We need a change in direction to reignite the spirit of enterprise in British Columbia, and the only way that is going to happen is with a new government,” said Dew.
Over the last two months, B.C. has now lost 42,700 full-time jobs.
“Families cannot afford another four years of job losses under David Eby,” said Caroline Elliott, Conservative candidate for West Vancouver-Capilano. “Lorne Doerkson and our Conservative team are ready to unleash the potential of our economy and create opportunity in British Columbia again. We need strong leadership for serious times.”
