VANCOUVER, B.C. — Today, David Eby was under fire from media about the news that his family is benefiting from scarce $10-a-day childcare spaces in the province.
Eby repeatedly refused to share details on his donation, including how much he donated, and whether he used the donation as a personal tax write off.

“Eby is in full damage control mode, trying desperately to avoid providing clear answers to the public about his childcare scandal,” said Margareta Dovgal. “Voters see the hypocrisy, and David Eby needs to stop dodging the tough questions and come clean: When was your donation and what was the financial value? Eby’s repeatedly refusing to answer journalists’ straightforward question further exposes Eby’s deceitfulness.”
What’s more, Eby has stated that he will be making another donation, in the future tense: “We will be making a similar donation to the childcare centre for our youngest child who attends the same facility.”
“It is apparent that David Eby is only promising his feeble response now because he has been caught red-handed. Is David Eby set to donate the tens of thousands of dollars he is saving his wealthy family by having his child enrolled in $10/day childcare?”
“Finally, David Eby should acknowledge that his supposed financial donation does not create new childcare spaces for the middle class families that his wealthy, privileged family displaced. David Eby should look a working single mother paying thousands in childcare costs in the eye explaining why his wealthy, powerful family deserves $10/day childcare first. David Eby is trying to defend the indefensible, as British Columbians are seeing Eby for the opportunistic hypocrite he is,” concluded Dovgal.
