After 9 years of the NDP, seniors are paying more in taxes and waiting longer for the care and support they’ve earned. The NDP’s Budget 2026 made it even worse.

Driving up Costs for Seniors:

  • The BC Seniors Advocate says costs on seniors increased about $1,200 more per year, following changes to the the Property Tax Deferment Program.
  • In Budget 2026, the NDP raised the rate on the lowest income bracket from 5% to 5.6% after promising to “tax the rich.”

Waiting for Care:

  • Over a three-year span, there was an emergency room closed in BC nearly every single day.
  • The NDP have left 7,200 people waiting for long-term-care beds.
  • Then in Budget 2026, they shelved seven long-term-care projects in Abbotsford, Campbell River, Chilliwack, Delta, Fort St. John, Kelowna and Squamish.
  • Since 2022, over 10 people have died each day while waiting for health care in the province.
  • Wait times from a referral to specialist treatment are now over 32 weeks, the longest recorded in British Columbia since measurement began in 1993 and almost a month longer than the national average.
