VANCOUVER, B.C. — This morning, David Eby was repeatedly asked about newly leaked documents about even more secret dealings by David Eby (Rob Shaw, ‘Secret documents reveal BC NDP government ‘Land Returns’ plan for First Nations’).

As is usually the case, David Eby is refusing to be upfront and honest with British Columbians.

Highlights:

“You were asked point blank last night after the debates about whether there were any deals that have not been made public to hand over parcels of land to First Nation…You were asked point blank. You deflected. You didn’t answer the question. And now we find out there are 400 parcels committed for transfer through the Treaty and Reconciliation Agreements. Why aren’t you being upfront with the British Columbian public about these issues?”

“Why are your plans on the forest tenures and the legislation that you’re considering not public in this election so voters can talk about it? And why is it not part of your forestry plan released yesterday? And why did you put everybody under NDAs to talk about it when it seems like such a consequential thing to the sector?”

“Why won’t David Eby just come clean on his plans?” said Conservative candidate Scott McInnis. “Once again it appears that David Eby and the NDP are telling British Columbians one thing, and making secret backroom deals that say another.”

“A re-elected Eby NDP Government means just more broken promises and revelations – but only after election day. British Columbians have seen this act before.”

Today’s revelation is just the latest in a long line of David Eby secret deals and broken promises:

  • Signing a secret Sechelt deal before the last election and not releasing it until after votes were counted.
  • Doubling the cost of the Massey Tunnel project to $8.5 billion, and then not disclosing it in the latest provincial budget (see previous release)
  • Promising $10-a-day child care for everyone, then halting the program this year.
  • Promising a $1,000 a year grocery rebate in the last election, and then scrapping it months later

“Does anyone believe David Eby’s promises anymore? David Eby is desperate and will say anything to try and save his political skin,” McInnis concluded. “British Columbians can’t trust anything David Eby promises.”
