VANCOUVER, B.C. — Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, Lorne Doerkson, released the following statement:

“There is no problem the NDP don’t think can be fixed by raising your taxes. After nine years of NDP government, housing starts are falling, home sales are down, thousands of finished homes sit empty because nobody can afford them, and families are leaving the province. That is David Eby’s record.

“Now, four weeks before an election, his answer is still more taxes. He’s had nine years and a majority to bring down the cost of a home, and he has failed. NDP taxes and red tape are the reason homes are too expensive, and every new tax on housing ends up in the price a family pays. 

“He promised every family $1,000 last election and cancelled it before his first budget, and British Columbians have no reason to believe him this time. 

“A BC Conservative government led by Lorne Doerkson will bring down the cost of building and buying a home so more homes get built and families can afford to live in them.”
